ANNOUNCEMENT: First issue published and CFP for the second issue

The Editorial Team is pleased to announce the first issue of HAS – Humanities, Arts and Society Magazine. HAS Magazine is the result of a collaboration between intergovernmental institutions and non-profit organizations, in line with the mission of UNESCO to build peace through international cooperation in education, science and culture working towards the sustainable development goals. HAS Magazine is a new step of the Humanities Arts and Society project, founded in 2016 at the initiative of UNESCO-MOST, the International Council for Philosophy and Human Sciences (CIPSH), and Mémoire de l’Avenir in partnership with Global Chinese Arts and Culture Society (GCACS).

The first issue of HAS Magazine, Big Data and Singularities: Creativity as a basis for re-thinking the human condition, explores uses and creative approaches to Big Data as well as ways to resist the consequences of their use.

CALL FOR CHAPTERS

The editors Max Ryynänen, Susanne Ylönen and Heidi Kosonen invite chapter proposals for the volume: “Tracing Disgust: Cultural Approaches to the Visceral”, by researchers from a variety of fields ranging from arts and cultural studies and philosophy to sociology and anthropology to reflect on the different varieties and functions of disgust. Unexpected approaches that consider the topic from perspectives that are novel both methodologically and content-wise are particularly welcome.

Evental Aesthetics

Evental Aesthetics is an independent, double-blind peer-reviewed journal dedicated to philosophical and aesthetic intersections. The journal is open-access, and there are no publication fees. The editors seek submissions for an unthemed issue in late 2020.

The issue will be devoted to philosophical matters pertaining to any aesthetic practice or experience, including but not limited to art and everyday aesthetics.

The organisers are delighted to invite contributions for “Art and Affect in the Predictive Mind”, a two-day international and interdisciplinary conference that will be held at the University of York, UK, between 24 and 25 September, 2020.The conference will bring together philosophers, art historians and cognitive scientists for the first systematic exploration of the rich and still largely uncharted interactions between predictive processing and aesthetic experience.
